Where should we take our family photos?

SBP-3078

I get this question all of the time. And while I can’t answer that question for your family – I can provide some advice, opinions and some things to think about.

First, I would say it’s important to decide if you want your session indoors or outdoors. For this blog post, I will focus on outdoor sessions. (a future post will be dedicated to indoor/studio sessions.)

Chicagoans are very lucky to live in such a beautiful area – with so many spots to choose from for a photo session

Wonderful One!! – Chicago Baby Photographer

babyphotography

What a joy it has been to get to know this family – from when we did maternity photos up until now, at their one year old session. I’ve loved watching two become three and seeing the love between the three of them. Just another reason why I love what I do and feel so lucky to do it!

Catch me if you can! – Chicago Children’s Photographer

We had so much fun at the park – doing what kids do – running, checking out paths in the garden, and running some more!

Sessions outdoors at this time of year are always a good idea. We know lots of good parks in the city and some suburbs! There are still a few remaining weekends before the holiday season – so call/email to book your session now.

Perks of my job! – Chicago Newborn Photographer

I love all the rolls and folds, all the sweet little toes, all the smiles when they are sleeping (what on earth are they thinking?) and I love seeing the looks the parents give – as if they never realized they could feel this way about another person – especially one so tiny!

SBP-5639

Do reach out to a fellow mom/aunt/friend to tell them how much they mean to you or that you think they are doing a good job. I don’t think these holidays necessarily have to be for your own mother, or even only for mothers. This will make you feel great – I promise! Do create

Unsolicited Advice – Chicago Newborn Photographer

I’ve been going through lots of our photos lately in preparation for my oldest son’s 8th grade graduation. Gasp!! It’s a tradition in our school to do a short photo montage of each student at the 8th grade dinner/dance (parents at my school if you’re reading this – get your photos in ASAP!!) Going through these photos makes me wonder how this now 5’7″ 14 year old was ever an itty bitty baby like the one below – how did this happen? Didn’t I

What a day with Gigi’s Playhouse! – Chicago Portrait Photographer

Gigisblog

In honor of World Down Syndrome Day, I’m posting images from the day I had a few weeks ago with some of the amazing people at Gigi’s Playhouse in Chicago.

In 2013, Gigi’s approached me to take the photographs that currently (but not much longer!) appear on their windows. Recently we collaborated once again to update the windows since Gigi’s expanded and have even more windows to cover with beautiful faces! Below are just some of the photos that were taken that day &#8211
